Pumpkin Protein Latte

IMG_2289.JPG

While the Northern Hemisphere has gone pumpkin crazy, I’m jumping on the bandwagon here is Australia. That’s because it’s awesome and I love it all year round!

Why is pumpkin so awesome? Well, it’s low in calories and carbohydrates so I can eat heaps of it even when dieting, it’s high in vitamins A & C too.

So, as much as these big coffee chain lattes look yum, there is a s&@t ton of fat, sugar & calories in them. One I looked at was 360 cals and 41g carbs!

Try my version for a sweet, spiced, creamy pumpkiny caffiene hit…

100g pumpkin (boil, baked whatever but cooked and soft)
200mls unsweetened almond milk
1 tsp stevia
1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice
25g Muscle Milk Vanilla Creme Protein
1/2 a cup of coffee

Put it all in a blender until smooth.

If you want it cold, use cold coffee and you could add ice for a thicker, icier smoothie.

If you want it warm, blend first and then heat on stovetop or in microwave. If you have a blender that can take hot foods then you can heat up the almond milk & coffee before blending 😄.

Guilt Free Hot Chocolate!

20120620-224947.jpg

The weather is getting colder and we need to warm up our little tummies! Everyone loves chocolate but if you want to get or keep in shape it’s hard to justify. So try this out. I would love to hear your thoughts too.

Into the blender;

1 banana
1 1/2 cups milk (I use skim lactose free but you could use plain, skim, hilo, oat, rice, almond, whatever helps you sleep at night)
1 tablespoon cocoa powder (plain unsweetened)
2 tsp Natvia (or Equal, Splenda etc)

Blend till smooth.

Pour into two mugs and microwave for 30 seconds and then stir at a time until warm/ hot.

And that’s it, guilt free hot chocolate.

You can even add chocolate, vanilla or coffee flavoured protein powder for a post workout snack.

Enjoy!
